Obituary for Joan M. Derr

Joan M. (Schaffer) Derr, 81, of Macungie, passed away on Monday, May 3, 2021 in Cedarbrook Nursing Home, South Whitehall Twp. She was the widow of Donald W. Derr, Sr., who died on May 31, 2020 and whom she married on December 1, 1956. Joan was a daughter of the late Elmer and Luella (Erney) Schaffer. She was a Homemaker. 

Joan is survived by a daughter, Deborah J. (Derr), wife of Nelson L. Angstadt, Kutztown; son, Donald W. Derr, Jr., Allentown; two grandchildren, Shawn M., husband of Erika M. (Hoch) Angstadt and Kristy L. Angstadt; and a great-grandson, Leon W. Angstadt. Joan was predeceased by her parents, a daughter, Kim Derr on July 23, 1991; a sister, Janet (Schaffer) Fields; and a brother, Rewellyn Schaffer.

A funeral service to celebrate Joan's life will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. in Ludwick Funeral Homes, Inc., 333 Greenwich Street, Kutztown, with The Reverend Arthur L. Hahn, officiating. Burial will follow in Ziegel's Church Union Cemetery, Breinigsville. Relatives and friends are invited to a viewing on Tuesday, May 11, 2021 from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
