Obituary for Charmaine McCray

Charmaine McCray was born on Sunday, February 11th, 1962 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was the daughter of Joseph McCray and Lillian Garvin. She gave her life to Christ at an early age and was baptized while attending St. Phillips Baptist Church of North Philadelphia. She was active within St. Phillips, serving on both Junior usher, Junior choir, and Sunday school ministries. Later in life she joined the First Corinthian Baptist Church of West Philadelphia.

Charmaine received her education from the Philadelphia public school system, graduating from University City High School in June of 1980. While still in high school, she began an internship with Rohm & Haas and was hired into full-time employment with the company upon graduation. During her career, she received numerous awards and accolades for helping co-workers in need. She had the privilege of working for Rohm & Haas for over twenty years before the company was acquired by Dow Chemical Company. After the acquisition, she left for the Philadelphia School District to serve in various administrative support positions.

Charmaine found so many joys in life. Her greatest passions were her family, cooking, and the Philadelphia Eagles. During football season, she would often find opportunities to incorporate all three into big events. She loved the Eagles and didn’t care who knew it. She treasured being a grandmother and showered her grandkids with all the love they could withstand.

Charmaine leaves to cherish her memory: her mother Lillian McCray; fiancé Eduardo Calderon; sisters Shirley McCray and Michelle Williamson (Michael Sr.); brother Anthony McCray; sons Terrell McCray (Desiree), Quentin McCray (Rasheeda), and Jaleel McCray; grandchildren Quentin Jr., Elijah, Jaxson, Caleb, Brielle, Amara, and Cailynn Mccray, Kamiah Lewis, and Hassan Baddie; nieces Marquita and Vernell Fields, Shanique Williamson and Tyeshia Baker; nephews Michael Williamson, Jr. and Anthony Israel and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
