The Life of Michael Wayne Simons

Michael Wayne Simons

Mike was born on November 29, 1958.  He passed away from Pancreatic Cancer on October 2,2023 at his home surrounded by family.  

Mike was born in Havre de Grace, Maryland to Mary Nell Simons and Monroe Simons Jr.  He was an only child and grew up in the close-knit community of Creswell.  Mike made many lifelong friends in the neighborhood with whom he remained close. He was a devoted friend and was there whenever anyone needed him.  He attended Bel Air High School and graduated in 1977.  Mike began working as a Computer Operator at Alexander and Alexander in Towson, Maryland in 1979.  He married Paula Alexander in 1986.   In 1998 Mike began working as a Systems Administrator for T. Rowe Price where he remained until retirement in 2022.     

Mike enjoyed boating, fishing, and crabbing on his beloved Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay. He and his friends had many adventures while boating and fishing.  Mike loved to steam his own crabs and share them at summer picnics with family and friends. He was an avid vegetable gardener and used his yearly crop of tomatoes and peppers to make his famous chili.  Mike was a treasure hunter and collector.  He loved flea markets and estate sales. Mike had a knack for being able to fix just about anything. He was a great backyard mechanic.  He loved the outdoors and holiday traditions, which he made special by going the extra mile for everyone.   

Mike is survived by his loving wife Paula Alexander Simons, his son, Shane Andrew Farmer, his daughter Cassandra Simons Gerson and son-in-law Joel Gerson.   In addition, Mike is survived by grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a large extended family. 

Mike was the rescuer and ROCK of the family.   He was loved by us all and will be greatly missed.
