The Life of James S. Longstreet

In memory of

James Saylor Longstreet
6/28/1926 – 8/27/2018

Death marks the beginning, not the end. It is a solemn, dramatic step in our journey to God.

Jim was born June 28, 1926, to Russell and Marion Longstreet in Philadelphia, PA. He was the eldest of two children.

He proudly served his country in the Navy during World War II, and graduated from Kutztown University in 1950. He considered himself his own man and did pretty much as he pleased. As a self-described woodworking hobbyist, he once built a two-story house using mill ends. He also rode a bicycle 3,200 miles to attend his thirty-fifth college class reunion. His wry sense of humor and infectious laugh will be missed.

Jim is survived by his daughters Faith Plass (Jan Ennis), Hope Hough (Tom) and Norma Morgan (Clint), five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Sue.

Memorial gifts may be made in his name (James Longstreet ’50) to Kutztown University Foundation, PO Box 151, Kutztown, PA 19530. Gifts will go towards a scholarship.
